The prototype of detonators can be traced back to the 17th century, when British scientist Robert Boyle attempted to detonate explosives by combining gunpowder with glass tubes, but due to limitations in technology, it was not widely available. Alfred Nobel was the one who truly promoted the industrialization of detonators. In 1865, he discovered in his research on nitroglycerin explosives that traditional black powder detonation methods had safety hazards. To this end, he innovatively used mercury fulminate as the initiating explosive and loaded it into a metal tube to make detonators, significantly improving operational safety. This improvement enabled nitroglycerin explosives to be widely used in mining and railway construction, earning Nobel the title of the founder of modern detonators.
